Dental surgery

Dental extraction
The dental extraction is the process during which the tooth is removed from the oral cavity. Advanced caries is the most common cause of teeth removal. Moreover they resort to tooth extraction due to many other reasons: advanced paradontopathy, impacted teeth (the tooth is unable to sprout from jawbone), orthodontics, etc. It doesn’t belong to surgical procedures and is usually performed under local anesthesia. However, there is the so-called surgical removal of teeth, which is only applied if the tooth could not be removed with conservative methods.
Wisdom tooth removal
Wisdom teeth can cause many problems, but if growing out goes fine no trouble will be caused.
The wisdom tooth unable to burst out due to the lack of space can push the whole set of teeth towards the center line.
In consequence the teeth are accumulating, which, in addition to the aesthetic disadvantage can cause many other problems, moreover the wisdom situated in the bone can cause jawbone cyst formation. A partly sprout wisdom tooth – beyond the accumulation of teeth- - can cause very severe inflammatory events, because the "pocket" formed between teeth and gums are the substrate for inflammatory bacteria. Such "pockets" can also worsen oral hygiene, and can provoke halitosis. Before orthodontic treatment - which is often needed because of accumulation-inducing wisdom tooth - they should be removed by all means.
Root apex resection
The procedure is only applicable for root canal teeth. In case there is an inflammatory lesion remained – cyst or granuloma – on the tip of a root canal tooth, which shows no tendency to healing with conservative treatment, the inflamed part can be removed with resection.
Possible causes of inflammation: inflamed tissue remained there during the root canal treatment, or the root canal was not performed with proper care.
Cyst surgery
Odontogenic cysts are closed sacs that have a connective tissue wall, and are padded with epithelium. It may contain air, fluids, or semi-solid material. Usually they are filled with yellow liquid. The main feature of a cyst is that is in permanent growth. The fluid pressure inside causes atrophy in the surrounding bone tissue. In advanced stage, even the jaw may fracture spontaneously. The teeth are more resistant than the bone so the pressure is not making them absorbed, whereas a cyst which grows between two teeth will move the roots apart. This is not a problem in the beginning, but later the crowns are inclined towards each other. As the cysts usually cause symptoms only after a long period, in many cases they are discovered by x-rays taken for another cause.
Sinus Closing
Sinus- in other words paranasal sinus- is located in the upper jawbone, filling in the major part of it.
The complication after the removal of small and big upper molars is the most common reason for sinus opening, but we do a security check after removing every upper tooth. The opening of the sinus is checked by a nasal blowing test, in which we shut the patient’s nose and we kindly ask him to blow sometimes.

The method of closing an opened sinus
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia. We create a so called flap in the gum with an incision, which will cover the opening, and then the flap is sewn and fixed to the mucosa covering the palate. Then again a nasal blowing test is performed, by which we check the success of the operation.
